What's with the snark? I said it was pointless, not that it required flashing. I also made the point that devs are waisting their time hacking devices instead of developing for the (non-existing) ones that are designed for MeeGo and come with drivers. Judging from your user name, I am guessing that you are used to view consumer electronics as a constant Sisyphean task.

I have figured out and forgotten more than you ever will, boy.

Yeah, you seem to have missed the "not having to flash" point made in the article. It's only pointless to a novice, but not to devs.

I know when to stay out of big boy conversations, you may need figure that out as well.

The big difference with MeeGo is that it's a full GNU/Linux distribution, and really the only GNU/Linux with a UI fit for phones and tablets (+netbooks, in-vehicle, tv). Just like Android was hacked to run on anything with a screen, MeeGo will likely be the same. I think MeeGo is the future of GNU/Linux on embedded devices (Android is also running on Linux, but it's not a GNU/Linux OS, so is a sep category).

MeeGo is not really about Nokia at all, and the more time I spend with it the more obvious that becomes :-)

A little pointless exercise when 90% of the functionality of the device is gone. Hackers wouldn't have to waste their time on this if anyone (...cough... nokia ...cough...) would offer deviceS with Maemo/MeeGo on the market. Sadly, a certain manufacturer is busy expanding its feature phone line and only uses ONE more advanced device to experiment on enthusiasts...
