Nexus One Car Dock Finally Gets A Face Shot [update]

We've been waiting for a long time to see something on the car dock, and it looks like we're finally going to be able to stop holding our breath. We're relieved, to say the least. Truth is, since about mid-January, we thought this bad boy would be ours to hold and enjoy, but it's taken Google their sweet time to get this thing unveiled. And, the sad truth is, they still haven't. The car dock, as complete as it may look in this image, is still not available in the Google Phone Store.

Unfortunately, you'll have to keep those credit cards at bay for a little while longer. This image is courtesy of Android and Me, and they've got some juicy details on the accessory as well. While it does hold your Nexus One in place, thanks to the suction cup that holds onto your windshield, it also has built-in speakers, volume controls, and the ability to charge your Nexus One while it's docked. The best part though, is the fact that once you put it into the dock, it auto-launches the navigation of Google Maps, better known as Car Home.

That all sounds well and good, and we're happy that we're one step closer to seeing the dock launched and in cars all over the place, but the steep price tag of $55 may make some pause. We're right there with them, actually. Though, with the added bonus features Google's tacked on, maybe the price makes sense. What do you think? Are you willing to pay $55 for your car dock?

[Update] Well, sure enough, you can buy the Car Dock. And yes, it costs $55. Go here to order yours![via Android and Me]
