Nexus isn't dead: Android Silver won't interfere

Concerns that Android Silver will mean an end to future Nexus devices is unfounded, Google's head of Android engineering Dave Burke has said. Though he wouldn't talk about Android Silver, he was very clear in his statement: "We are still invested in Nexus."

Under Android Silver, Google will shell out to the highest bunch of handset makers, paying them to make Android phones that meet certain specifications. Many have feared that such a program will put an end to the Nexus devices, but concerns can be put to rest.

"People have been commenting about Nexus because there is something else and they think that means the end of Nexus," said Burke. "That is the totally wrong conclusion to make." He went into detail about the issue to the folks at ReadWrite.
