I LOVE mine! I never wanted a 10″ tablet. Who wants to try to balance a sheet of glass on their hand while trying to work the thing?! The 7″ is perfect size to hold securely while working it. Screen is amazing. Love all my apps and how easy it is to do everything. Love swype which can’t get on an ipad.

The lack of storage hasn’t been a problem for me – I have an 8GB. I have dozens of apps, but not many games or movies. I guess that’s what would take up the most space?

I love ours. I’ll be buying three more in the next month or so because the kids fight over the one we have. My old full sized tablet seems like a dinosaur next to the nexus 7. At the $199 price point, its hard not to get them.

Well, it technically runs Android, and the Fire market is a subset of the main Android market… anything reasonably popular that the majority of content consumers would want is on there. It is a bit shorted on being full-fledged Android with all of Google’s niceties, but it still is a tablet form-factor device running Android, so I’d figure it’s safe enough. And, although I realize this doesn’t really “count”, it’s very easy to make it a proper ICS or JB tablet now thanks to the work of “Hashcode” of XDA developers.

The Nexus 7 really hit the sweet spot on a variety of fronts. It had the very latest version of Google’s OS (compare that with the fact that there are still tablets for sale running 2.3), it had good quality hardware (unlike bargain tablets from Amazon and others), and it had a nice low price (for the same price as the Kindle Fire or Nook, you get a much better device).
Despite the comparatively slow sales of Android tablets, Google has shown that if you offer a quality product at a good price, people will indeed buy it. The Android tablet market is currently a giant donut (pun not intended). There are dirt cheap tablets, between $80 and $200, with lousy hardware and old versions of Android, and then there are the high end models like the Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom, and others, which have the size, hardware, and features to compete with Apple’s iPad, but a similarly high price which is a bigger disadvantage for the Android newcomers. Before the Nexus 7, there just hasn’t been too many mid-range Android tablets that offer the mix of affordability and quality that could tempt people away from the iPad.

I love how people consider the Kindle fire an android tablet. How can it be when it doesn’t connect to the android market or contain any of the google services built in. I’d be willing to bet that the Nexus 7 hasn’t outsold the original kindle fire because Google doesn’t count it as an android device.
