Sounds pretty much like they are trying to shoot themselves in the foot with this move. Surely they mean it can not play Xbox 360 games. How dumb would it be that I couldn’t bring my copy of Madden (not that I play Madden) or Forza to a friends house to play on their X-box, because preventing “used” games from being played would do exactly that!

Thats a load of horseshit.. probably the result of a bad translation. It’s likely a question of backwards compatibility with 360 titles and not “used games.”

aaaaannnnd, that’ll pretty much kill my interest in getting the console. I play used games all the time. nothing more fun than occasionally hitting the bargain bin of used games and picking up some of the classics for a couple of bucks that I missed when they were new. I’d never be willing to pay full price for them though….

The more the software and hardware companies try to impose restrictions on fun gaming, the less fun it is to me. The less fun it is, the less money I’m going to spend on it, and the more I’ll do other things. Hopefully, the companies out their recognize the damage these attempts to destroy the used market do on a long term level

I will not buy the new xbox if they pull those shenanigans. I am an avid gamer on a small budget I use Gamefly to satisfy my habit and its bad enough with all this online pass crap. Might be time to get a Google TV with Onlive installed if Sony goes the same route.
