Next-Gen Nintendo DS to boost graphics, get motion sensors

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has dropped a few details as to the hardware capabilities of the next-gen Nintendo DS, though the executive wouldn't go so far as to pinpoint when we might expect the handheld to be released.  Speaking to Japanese paper Asahi Shimbun, Iwata confirmed that both graphical capabilities and alternative control methods were on the cards.

"[The new DS will have] highly detailed graphics, and it will be necessary to have a sensor with the ability to read the movements of people playing" Iwata is quoted as saying, though when asked about rumors of integrated cellular connectivity he said Nintendo are not considering such functionality.  Instead the company is looking at increasing the number of WiFi hotspots DS owners will be able to use.
