Next Borderlands may yet come to Xbox One and PS4

While Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is guaranteed to be coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC first, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are not out of the question. So says 2K Australia's Tony Lawrence. He also suggests that as all Borderlands 2 players are currently playing on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC – or on SHIELD through PC, etc, the team at Gearbox and 2K would like to reward them with the next title.

Gearbox's franchise director Matt Armstrong and Tony Lawrence spoke on GameReactorTV this week about the next chapter in the Borderlands saga. According to them, they're considering this next game to be the 2nd game in a series which has Borderlands 2 as its third.

Because of this trilogy look at this collection of games, it only makes sense to release the second on the same platforms as the third. That said, the teams responsible for development and distribution aren't explicitly against releasing Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel to next-gen consoles.

"If fans say, hey, we'd really like this on a next-gen console, we'll think about that," said Lawrence, "but right now we're concentrating on the consoles we know." Armstrong added "as we said, one day maybe, I don't know."

Armstrong also implied that it may be down to how well the game does on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, before the game is brought to Xbox One or PlayStation 4. That and "whether or not everyone moves on to the next gen fully next year."
