While obviously their crime is horrible, if they are out, they’ve presumably served their time. On what legal basis therefore could they be barred from playing an online game? A kid focused social service maybe, but online games? I’m definitely anticipating that needing to go to the courts for a constitutionality check.c

yeah..

I don’t know what the statistics are , but how many people of legal age or underage “hook-up” from meeting on Call of Duty? (… wow… you are awesome.. we should meet in the park sometime and talk about Call of Duty in person… )

Anyway… I don’t want kids to be hurt, but FBI statistics do show that most children are hurt by their family or family friends…

so… maybe parents should start doing some more work instead of making stupid laws..

your kids are more likely to get in a car accident by someone who has been texting than drinking.

your kids are more likely to be attacked by your boyfriend or uncle billy than some person on Call of Duty online.

your kids are more likely to get diabetes than get abducted walking to school.

A valid point…. though you must admit, online gaming (for underage kids) is a problem that needs to be solved by any means necessary….

I think that kids AND sex offender should be monitored (kids by parents, sex offenders by games makers? or law enforcement agencies?

and taking away games from sex offenders, as you said, may not be the best thing to do

Although I can understand why they did this (safety) I still think that it was wrong. Not every sex offender plays online game to ‘hunt’ or ‘spread fear’ and some of them regret what they did or it happened a long time ago.

I think a better, although much more difficult way would be to monitor these sex offenders and see if they should or should not be allowed to play online.

children are important and it is always a tragedy when something/anything bad happens to them

Yeah great, except what does it mean to be a sex offender? Could be a guy who was 18 and had sex with a 16 yr old. Now he can’t find an apartment because there are schools nearby, can’t get a job, can’t play Words with Friends. Let’s not go overboard on “protecting our kids” and let these people have a life.

this was stupid and a waste of time.

people should monitor what their underage children are doing online and people should be able to play a game if they want to play a game, after they have served their time in jail.

what are these people supposed to do? I’d rather them keep themselves busy playing games in their house than go out to the park or mall.

if you take everything away from them, then they will not have any reason to not go back to jail. Just like what happens with other criminals, they can’t get a job, a place to stay, so crime becomes the only thing they can do.

The problem is that the most popular multiplayer games (such as Halo 3) on Xbox Live are M-rated games. The ‘underage victims’ shouldn’t be playing those games in the first place.

Except that a bunch of these ‘sex offenders’ have had their lives ruined by things they did when they were teens.

The whole ‘sex offender’ system needs to be redone.
