Whenever people find out about leaked products or demos, many want to jump right on it. That’s exactly the case with the New Xbox Experience. But it turns out installing the leaked files will lock you out of Live until the NXE is set to be released!

Many that have downloaded the leaked version of the NXE, have found themselves completely locked out of Xbox Live. And since the release date for the new experience is set for November 19th, you’re looking at about three weeks of lock down. That’s a long time to go without Live!
So take all of this as a word of warning. Don’t install the new leak unless you’re okay with not being able to access Xbox Live for the next couple of weeks and you’re willing to run the risk of being banned by Microsoft. Of course, there’s been no word about bans yet, but it is always a possibility.

I don’t think there will be any bans. You being locked out of Xbox Live until November 19 is their wrist slap for getting the leaked version. They knew this would happen, which is why they made it that way.

Yep, you’re correct. Even the NXE email sent to the beta testers confirms it. It says something like “Do not put your hard drive into another Xbox 360 during the beta test time, otherwise the Xbox 360 machine will be updated as well, and cannot access Xbox Live until November 19th.”
They knew this would be leaked ;)

NeutralYou Mean to tell me that you do not think that Microsoft knows what software is running on a product they made that has a constant internet connection? Come on, they can find out what is all on your Windows PC. Xbox is the same. One reason they enabled the usage of .avi is to help crack down on pirating… think about it.
