I remember back when Star Wars Galaxies was announced, being the Star Wars nut that I am, I was about as excited as one could get. I won’t go into the disappointment that the game became, but I have been getting my hopes up that the rumors of a new MMO set in a galaxy far, far away. Well, a few new trademark filings from LucasArts has added fuel to the fire that such a new game is in the works.

Four trademarks were recently registered, described as “video game software” and “entertainment services provided on-line by means of global and local area networks.” Sure sounds like an MMO to me, but who knows.

The registered trademarks are as follows: Star Wars The Old Republic, The Old Republic, Star Wars Sagas, and Star Wars Legends. Definitely sounds like they’re looking to set something in the KotOR timeframe. Hopefully we’ll hear something definite from LucasArts in the near future.
