Its quite typical actually.Same model of Nintendo DS had slightly different touch screens.
Nokia N82 had “more purple” screens on some units. etc. etc…..

I would agree if this upgrade from iPad2 to “new” iPad at least didn’t affect the size and weight . The size and weight is downgrade. Its heavier and thicker. And iPad2 was already heavier and thicker than Tabs.Upgrading from Dell Streak(great device) to GNote I’ve got more of everything and bigger display(286 ppi ), plus thinner smaller and lighter devise. That’s pretty damn impressive.

But my main point here was this BS about “retina display” fiction, and menial blogs and journalists :)

Whether you think its retina or not. Its still the best looking tablet. And the Gnote is 286 ppi at 5.3 inches the iPad is almost twice that size at 264ppi. That’s pretty damn impressive.

Quite the cynic aren’t we ? The fact is that Apple produces quality products that everyone wants.
Even though the popularity of their products would by now seem a given, it seems each new device shows unpredictable spikes in buyer demand and, yes, shortfalls in production.
You have a very jaundiced view of people in general ( ignorant, overweight, poor comment ). You should give seeing the good in people a try sometime.

What shortage ? “Retina Display”? :):)
The “new” iPad has NOT retina display, It has 264 ppi.
“The screen is marketed by Apple as the “Retina Display”, based on the assertion that a display of approximately 300 ppi at a distance of 12 inches (305 mm) from one’s eye, or 57 arcseconds per pixel[42] is the maximum amount of detail that the human retina can perceive.[43″

By the way GNote has 286ppi HD super AMOLED

I worked for apple for 2 years, and I can tell you this – the customers that i worked with may not have known the difference between some of the stuff going into the store, but they never left with a product they didn’t understand because, to get a computer or what-not, you have to go to a specialist, and I can tell you that in 2 years of working there, I had MAYBE 5 customers out of thousands that walked in, bought a computer, and then walked out, no questions asked. And they were the ones that, making idle conversation while ringing them up, I knew that they understood exactly what they were buying, and were tech-savvy enough to have done the research.

The “masses” aren’t iSheep. You are just a fandroid elitist troll, looking into the walled garden with hatred born of envy.

Author, you imply Apple uses functionally different panels…whichever is on hand today gets assembled. Tomorrow could be a different spec panel? Given that this could lead to customer complaints regarding not getting the “best” panel, are you sure of what you report?
