Once you overclock by 40% you cut your battery life considerably, thus your benchmark does not provide a meaningful comparison.The Galaxy Tab at its original clock speed of 1 GHz will perform similarly to the iPad at 1 GHz, because both use SoC chips which are based on dual-core ARM Cortex-A9.

Overall the iPad performs much faster than the Galaxy Tab: The iPad 2 was already 4 times faster in graphics performance than the Galaxy Tab 10.1, the new iPad doubles the GPU performance again. (google GLBenchmark 2.1)

Just downloaded geekbench on my galaxy tab 10.1 overclocked at 1.4ghz and scored 1206, ha apples efforts are pathetic!

CPU power and OS efficiency are tied together. Ios, like osx, gets by with lower clock speeds because of better utilization. There’s no silly java layer in the middle of everything.

Try this. Set a macbooks and pc side by side, same specs. Open CPU monitors for both, with the systems completely idle.

Now… Move the mouse around the screen.

Comical isn’t it. The mac will spike at 3-5% while the PC will leap to above 60% CPU utilization TO MOVE THE DAMN MOUSE.

This is one tiny example why a same spec mac will out-perform a pc doing audio and video work. Just moving your mouse while using a program like Traktor can cause audio to drop out.

High spec socs on android are mainly to try and mimick iPad performance.

Buy whatever device fits your needs. I use what is accessible. I don’t discriminate on price or OS, it’s all about what I actually need to do, and which device provides that better. If the price of the device that I like is more or less than what someone else uses? Big deal.

You android folks & your spec sheets. The iPad will still run as smooth as silk with this chip. It can be a lower processed because the software is optomized to run smooth. Look at all the super intense apps that it can run. Some of them to rival pc software. & you call this weak? Ignorant fools.

This has made my mind up , won’t be getting this rubbish , don’t understand how apple could put such a weak processor in the ipad , fair enough its good enough for what Apple “WANTS” you to use it for but lets be honest the Samsung galaxy s3 will be a lot more powerful than this tablet which frankly is embarrassing on Apple’s part that a mobile phone is more powerful than the latest tablet ,it would be like saying my netbook is more powerful than your computer …. it just shouldn’t happen especially when your forking out over £400
