New Earthworm Jim title may happen eventually

If you're like me, then you probably loved Earthworm Jim back in the '90s. The first two games in the series were great, but sadly, Earthworm Jim 3D and Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the Galaxy weren't anything to write home about, and aside from a few recent re-releases, we haven't heard much from the gun-wielding worm since. But according to designer David Perry, we may have another Earthworm Jim game to look forward to in the future, so long as the original team can be pulled together again to have another go at the series.

The problem, Perry tells Eurogamer, is that most of the original team is off doing all sorts of things these days, and they're all very successful at whatever it is they're doing. The desire to make a new game in the Earthworm Jim series is there though, Perry says, suggesting that a new Earthworm Jim game is not a matter of if but rather when. "We have our own little discussion group on Facebook," he said. "We've been having this discussion: when will this happen? When could we do it? What would make sense?

"It's one of those things that, no one's got the time right now. I'm sure it's going to happen, I just can't tell you exactly when."

So there you have it folks: a new Earthworm Jim game could very well become a reality, but first all of these guys need to get together in the same room and actually get to work. Obviously, this may take a while, considering that all of these people have jobs they need to be doing, but at least a lot of the people who worked on the original Earthworm Jim titles want to see this get off the ground eventually.

Oh, and Perry also reassures that this new Earthworm Jim game will indeed be 2D, so no worries there.
