Agreed, power is always going to increase in the face of ever more (and already) demanding applications. But it's a little too easy to blame intel or any company for this or that. Fact comes down to both companies are working MIRACLES. This is like a tribal myth come true, look inside your computer, that is just so amazing, detailed, a feat of engineering impossibility some 50 years ago! I mean... it's this whole idea that the comedian named Louis CK focused on one of his stand up comedy's, everything is amazing but no one's happy. Though a little extreme of a claim, it hits on a good psychological aspect of how spoiled we are and how we feel we need to hate on technology if it doesn't meet our desires. All I'm saying is be happy, we are living dreams of possibility people prior to the 1900's would have killed for, literally.

QUOTE "This chips will be fast as hell, and way way beyond adequate for gaming needs and any other program unless you've gotten add'd out, how many people still eat their hot pocket when its still cold in the middle because their lazy? "

This prevalent view is really starting to irk me ( and in the end hurts me possibly )
The game I cannot make because of lowest common denominator console economics has nothing to do with know how on my end. The machine hardware will not exist in my lifetime that I will not be able to create worlds that brings it to it's knees. As far as any other programming needs? I am pretty sure that weeks of rendering complex illumination bakes in Maya is far from sating my hardware fantasies. I sure wish everyone with a new smartphone throw their computers away and continue with their "cute" needs elsewhere. Cuz I need mo power captain!

I mean you do realize that its highly probable that information is correct, not to mention it will give them time to get their On-die HD graphics driver team some room to iron out the inevitable inconsistencies looming.

Sandy bridge came out a year ago dude, that was a serious step up from the already great nehalem-westmere chips. Now, here we are about to see an already powerful chip implement tri-gate 3d transistors, a die shrink from 32nm to 22nm allowing amazing thermal, power consumption envelopes allowing enthusiasts to rip on high end machines, they put much more R&D into their graphics (while still ultimately lacking when it will be released though amd's gameplan has pushed intel to take it seriously). This chips will be fast as hell, and way way beyond adequate for gaming needs and any other program unless you've gotten add'd out, how many people still eat their hot pocket when its still cold in the middle because their lazy?

The only thing I can see intel needing to do is create and work with other partners to create great software to utilize their architecture even more efficiently, look at quicksync for example. Its all the about the ecosystem, look at nvidia vs amd in this aspect, the ecosystem and developer concentration on certain architectures is so important. Its like viewing the difference between Quadro and Firepro vs the Radeon and Geforce series. Similar cards but worlds apart on a software level, on a driver level.

And btw, i love amd, i run amd because i dont have the cash for the best performance (intel) but they have their place, which fits with my needs and budget. But im not oblivious to the truth of the industry and the technology in front of me.

Bullshit, intel is postponing it because amd doesn't have any competitive parts.Soon you are going to see it like it was in the old days, where intel releases minor performance updates in their cpu's at a slow rate of speed.Does no one remember what intel did before amd gave then competition?
