“downgrade” from a billed account to the free account. I originally
signed up for the $9.95/500 MB account. After 2 months I realized I
didn’t need that much data (I just check email) and when I called to
downgrade they forced me to cancel my account.

Yea if you sign a contract…i think what NetZero is doing is for those who don’t want to be tied to a contract and can just cancel anytime with out any fees. Verizon and the rest offer devices for cheap BUT you need a 2 year contract with them otherwise the devices are at 150 and up.

What good is it if its not even in your area. I seen it advertized on television but the closest it is to me is two and a half hours away in St. Louis, MO or three and a half hours away in Chicago, IL. I wish if they are going to advertise stuff they would make sure it is available in all areas they have it advertised. The same thing is happening here with cell phones. They are selling 4G phones and advertising about 4G in my area but when you go talk to the carriers none of them have 4G service here, only 3G service.

This cannot be true. I have verizon also, it’s $50/month for 5GB. They do NOT have an unlimited plan.

My Verizon Unlimited plan is $30/month, and I routinely hit >8GB per day. No throttling, no overages, no disconnects.

Also, every connection goes to the same internet, and because there are no wires to maintain it actually costs the cell providers LESS to operate internet service than the cable provider.

But you pay $50 for the device or $100 for the wifi spot. The retail value of the device is around $20 for similar devices, $40 for the wifi version. That means you’re paying $30 for 2.4GB or $60 for 2.4GB. Hardly a deal.

It’s NOT free, so its a lie. It’s also NOT $9.95. It’s $9.95 for 200 MB. 200 MB will run your laptop, loaded with spam and adware about two hours. So, your monthly cost will be much higher…..if, of course, you want to USE it.

Great, clear is already over subbed last yr clear opened a store 5 blocks from my apt. Now my Wimax tops at 4-5m down unless I use it at 6 am. If I take it 20 blocks to the gym or work I get 10m down. That area has office buildings and buildings with FIOS so few use Wimax.

Wimax was great 2yrs ago before anyone used it. Time to get LTE MVNO!

I suppose this sort of headline is good clickbait, but it kills your credibility as a source. The headline promises to let us know about someone offering free WiMAX. Instead, it’s a minimum of $9.99 a month. Contract-free and free are not synonymous.
