Nice if you live in the states, but I guess that in most other parts of the world these kind of service are hard to find. (And not because of lack of infrastructure, I've got 20Mb/s myself here in Spain)

So until there is a pay-per-view service (no monthly fees!) that is not (too) expensive and offers a lot of content, I guess we'll just stick with the illegal alternatives.

Frankly, more power to netflix! They have a viable business model, that delivers what we want, where we want it, and when we want it. They don't have every movie yet, but the service has enough that it's now well worth investing in.

I'm all in favor of them suceeding sufficiently to finally convince the remaining studios to transition to the new paradigm. This would be a tremendous success for us all. Not just for netflix, but for any other streaming service.

just as long as we get net neutrality sorted....

You can safely do a Netflix trial and you won't be charged if you cancel. I did so and cancelled the next day because as it turns out my Internet connection is not fast enough to sustain streaming without freezing over and over again. I am out in the country and only have 1M DSL service...and that's on a good day.

Well, you could expect Netflix ads to appear in the Google ads rotation after all, since the keywords are associated with Netflix. There should be Google ads about Google on the CR-48 page similarly. But then again, I block some of the ads with Adblock-Plus on Firefox. I'm using Google Chrome at the moment, though.

ANyway, I've always been a bit skeptical when it came to Netflix. I always figured I'd mess up if I tried and a trial and so on. I might give them a shot during the summer. I think it would be better if Netflix services locked itself after the first month, in the trial, so no credit card charges would be applied. That would eliminate some worries on being charged. Then you could just update your subscription and then it would be unlocked. I wonder how complex that process would be if it was implemented.
