Netflix strikes deal with Duplass brothers for 4 movies

Netflix hasn't been bashful about its plans to release movies and otherwise shift the nature of entertainment consumption, and keeping in step with that is a new announcement tacking a couple more movies to the company's production plans. The Duplass brothers have struck a deal with Netflix, and under it they will make four movies that will ultimately be made available on the service. All four will be small budget movies, and as of right now there are no solid dates for when they'll come around.

The information comes from the Hollywood Reporter, which says that it has received confirmation from Netflix regarding the deal. This isn't the first time Mark and Jay Duplass have been involved with Netflix, however, with their previous The Puffy Chair having been acquired by the service.

No information is available at this time regarding what the four movies will be about — or even if there are any specific movies in the pipeline under the deal. For now the duo are working on the new HBO series Togetherness, which launched earlier this month.

This nearly doubles the number of movies for which Netflix has announced plans. The company has previously revealed that it will be the home of four new Adam Sandler movies in the future, and that it will also be home to a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel.
