Netflix for iOS adds 3D Touch and iPad Pro optimization

Netflix has pushed out an update for its iOS app, adding some requested features like iPad Pro optimization but leaving out others, namely picture-in-picture support, much to users' disappointment. The update brings Netflix for iOS up to version 8, which can be grabbed now from the iTunes store. In addition to iPad Pro owners, iPhones users are getting a treat with the update.

For those on the iPhone, Netflix for iOS now supports the post-play experience, which is to say it brings episode auto-play and recommendations, which have been available on some other platforms for a while. As well, version 8.0 brings support for 3D Touch and the Arabic language (iOS 9 and later).

Other features include a layout that has been optimized for iPad Pro users, an improved "Kids" experience for those using the child-friendly profile, and some general and unspecified performance improvements.

While they're all welcomed additions, many users are disappointed to find there's no picture-in-picture support — with such a feature, users would be able to watch a show in a small screen while continuing to use the tablet for other things, such as Web browsing. It isn't clear why Netflix has avoided adding the feature.
