Wireless USB has been making a lot of headway recently, I haven’t actually gotten the chance to get my hands on some WUSB equipment yet, but as soon as I do, I’ll let you know how it goes. Regardless, NEC isn’t the first to start integrating the technology into their notebooks, but they are the most recent by adding it to their J series of LaVie laptops.

Nec LaVie J Series 1

Other than wireless USB the notebook has a C2D U7600 running at 1.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 12.1-inch screen, 160GB HDD, WiFi, A/B/G/N, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and then of course Wireless USB. There are a couple of slightly lower end models, the 730 halves the HDD storage and RAM and drops the WiFi N, and the 700 further drops Office 2007.

This notebook is also reportedly shock resistant, to some extent, so its clearly made for travelers. No word on availability, or if that WUSB hub comes with it, but the top end model will cost you 1735 Euro, which means about $2500 USD, or thereabouts.
