Aren't comets mostly ice? It will melt as it reenters the Earth's atmosphere, unless they land it in the Arctic. Remember the one that collected the solar wind particles for years, then pancaked in the Utah desert when the parachute failed to open? That was funny. They lucked out that it had rained, which softened the dirt, so the inside didn't totally disintegrate as it hit the ground. NASA made the world's most expensive crater with that one. They are sure ahead of the Russians on the exploration of Mars.
