Mushkin unveils Chronos SSDs with SandForce SF-2281 controller

Mushkin has a line of SSDs already that includes some very nice and speedy storage drives for consumers. The company has announced its latest SSD called the Chronos series and the new line of SSDs will use the SandForce SF-2281 processor. This line of SSDs will also be the first from Mushkin to use the SATA revision 3.0 protocol for 6 Gbps bandwidth. Mushkin promises that the SSD will offer very fast speeds and still allow the price to stay low.

The Chronos SSDs will have a read speed of 560MB/s and a write speed of 530MB/s. IOPS are claimed to be 90,000 with 4K random writes. The SSD also has SandForce DuraWrite, RAISE, Recycler, and intelligent wear leveling tech inside. The tech all works to extend the life of the SSD. The SSDs are expected to land in June and there is no pricing details offered at this time. The line will include the Chronos and Chronos Deluxe. The Deluxe version will use high-speed NAND flash.

"This new series of SSDs is the latest in Mushkin's long history of solid state storage products. This is an area in which we have made great strides and our Chronos SSD line will continue this tradition. Users who are ready for SATA III now, or are planning to upgrade down the road, will not find a better drive in terms of performance and price." – Brian Flood, Mushkin director of product development.
