Mundane dressed as Lamb - Faux Ferrari 360

That old saying "the clothes maketh the man" springs to mind here, or perhaps the somewhat crueler "you can't polish a turd" – I guess it depends on your opinion of conversion kits that transform the cars of mere mortals into luxury dreams (or at least facsimiles of them).  In this case, UK-based Extreme Cars take a Peugeot 406 Coupe and – in return for anything from £6000 upwards – supply the fibreglass body-panels required to make it look like a pretty convincing replica of a Ferrari 360.

Of course, I could put on a lace leotard, high-heels and straddle a canon, but that wouldn't make me Cher.  There's something more than a little bit desperate about fake sportscars, despite all the verbiage from owners and enthusiasts that they're "an homage to beautiful design".  If that was the case, why not design something that no mainstream car manufacturer could ever consider building?  A design so unique that it says more about you than a four-seater French wannabe sports car in drag could ever manage.  There are plenty of glass-fibre specialists out there who would happily make your imagination into reality.

For those that don't know it, there's a picture of a 406 donor car after the jump.
