MSI X-Slim X340 listed, price creeps to $1,099.99

MSI have officially listed their X-Slim X340, complete with pricing, and it's something of a disappointment to anybody lured in by the company's promise of a sub-$1,000 sticker.  Both the MSI X-Slim X340-021US (in black) and the MSI X-Slim X340-023US (in white) start at $1,099.99, with Core 2 Solo 1.4GHz SU3500 CULV processors, 13.4-inch 1366 x 768 displays and 2GB of DDR2 memory.

Other specifications include WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and a 320GB SATA hard-drive.  There's also gigabit ethernet, Intel's GMA 4500MDH GPU and an HDMI output, together with two USB ports, VGA output and audio in/out.  A 1.3-megapixel webcam and 2-in-1 memory card reader round out the specs.

The standard battery is a 4-cell pack, though an 8-cell version is optional.  Of course, the X340's headline feature is its dimensions: just 0.24-inches at its thinnest, 0.79-inches at its thickest, and weighing 2.86lbs with the 4-cell battery.

We caught up with the X-Slim X340 last month, and shot some live video of the ultraportable which you can see here.  MSI were still talking about bringing it in under $1,000 at that point; right now, both the black and white versions are listed as "out of stock", but while we'd like there to be a little price tweaking before sales begin in earnest, we're not holding our breath.
