Why oh why isn’t any netbook offered with Windows XP Professional?
XP Home means I can’t connect it to my Work domain…

It’s a licencing issue, Stuart. Microsoft don’t really want people using XP at all, they’d much rather you bought Vista, but if it’s a choice between preserving an old OS versus giving up market share to Linux, they’ll grudgingly do the former. It’s worked in their favor, too: XP is apparently on around 90% of netbooks.
