"Hang on, so US customers will be waiting a whole 3-5 weeks to get their hands on MSI’s Wind budget ultraportable, courtesy of Amazon, while in the UK a rebadged version of the notebook is available today?"

It kind of stands to reason that developed western countries would get the product before backward third-world countries like the US.

But seriously, the world does not revolve around America. You might be surprised to know that many countries in Western Europe are more technologically advanced than the US. We even stopped living in wooden huts hundreds of years ago. Whenever I see news footage of an American town devasted by a hurricance I can't help thinking they learnt nothing from the story of the 3 little pigs. It's frankly tragic.

Hi Brian,

The problem could be that you are holding the 'on' button for too long. If you press and hold the 'on' button, the machine will boot up and then shut down immediately. To start it up, you really only need a short press of the button. A few people have been caught out by this.

Hope this helps

Just opened mine up,switched on and it promptly shut down.

I've repeated the set up steps a hundred times and it still won't boot.

Waiting for a replacement....Yawn Yawn Yawn......

Only ever had Macs before and they have never ever let me down.Out of the box and running.

But hey the Advent is soooooo cheap what did I expect? something that worked?

Silly me.... lesson learnt; the hard way.

maybe..... just get a MSI Wind proper ..... pay the extra and avoid that sick feeling I 'm gonna have for the next couple of weeks while I deal with all the returns re ordering B S.

Happy days?

A friend of mine just picked one of these up. It even has MSI stickers on the base and packaging.

Just ordered one myself (bought through Dixons as PC World's website seemed to be offering collection only). I think the battery is slightly weaker on the 4211, but the £60 saving means I can get a spare for the same price as would have got me a Wind with a single 3 cell. Happy days.

"Somewhat conclusive proof that MSI really need to re-examine their supply-chain"

maybe you need to re-examine the value of the U.S. dollar compared to European currency.
