@jcdr: B2G already runs on Samsung Galaxy S2 and other phones. It has three layers, as the Ars Technica piece reported: Gonk (Linux + drivers and libraries), Gecko, and Gaia (homescreen). Unlike webOS the Linux we use tracks the one Android uses, so we're easy to bring up on common phones. Unlike Android, we have no Dalvik overhead, just the Web extended with device APIs that are being standardized on top of the kernel.

Some points are still unclear. What the advantage over WebOS that use the same concept ? This OS will probably still need a kernel, drivers and basic libraries, at least on the first iteration as rewriting all of that is a lot of work. Could probably run fine on top of Android in place of the Java part, or on top of Meego (and derivated). This could be also the start of a new idea like having the exact same apps on mobile and PC.
