Mozbii color-picking stylus targets kids

Sliding in to fill the gap left by the shamed Scribble Pen is the Mozbii, a color-picking stylus designed with children in mind. With the Mozbii, users can hold the stylus up to any object to scan its color, then use the stylus in the related app to draw in that shade.

Mozbii, designed with a distinct "lollipop shape", is a capacitive stylus with an integrated sensor for picking colors from one's surroundings. It is compatible with both Android tablets and the iPad, and is joined by a coloring book app for young children.

The stylus, as shown in the video below, works by being pressed against any surface. After a few moments, the stylus beeps and an LED light blinks, letting the user know the color has been detected. That color shows up in the coloring book app, and can be later selected from a roster of saved colors.

The makers say the Mozbii can be used straight out of the box, and is designed for simplicity, making it easy enough for kids to use. There's a magnet for attaching it to a metal surface (like your fridge), as well as for its magnetic charger. The stylus is being funded on Kickstarter, where it sits at $43,170 (over its $30k goal) with 15 days remaining.
