I am a movie critic myself and with the movie industry today.. Movies are made just for money.. the quality is great..graphics and effects..and all but the story just doesn’t make sense anymore… more movies are made out of special effects..hmmmm It’s just useless… see and judge for yourself.. watch the different kinds of movies and see what’s lacking in this field of art. http://dFL8.me/3ebb7
I honestly would say that this movie lacks a spark in it although it had an excellent effects and stuff..it lacked something .. but still you know i'm an avenger fan

Marvel running out of Super Heroes for the big screen? Guess u missed the part where these movie lead up to the Avengers. The big 3 (Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man) are the main focus of the Avengers.

And yes Loki in the Marvel Universe is a Frost Giant.

Bummer.

Spiderman was so good that I had hopes other "super" type moves would be able to recapture the power... the element that the it all needs to mean something, without being too ridiculously epic to feel overly fake. I'd hoped Thor would be good, even though it's not latching into an established comic (that I'm aware of)

I did kinda like Iron Man 2 though... I see what you meant by "soulless" but I viewed it as a more lighthearted approach and kinda liked the comedic banter... had some difficulty with a different Rhodes though. The original one really did a good job with convincing us that he was searching for meaning in his participation with the armed forces, but not so much the new one.

I agree, nice review. My family and friends went to see the movie and the theater was almost entirely empty. As Marvel fans we were very disappointed. We expected more from Marvel and especially Branaugh. The movie's storyline was sub-par and the dialogue was juvenile. Hopefully Marvel will give Chris Evans something intelligent to say in Captain America and take the whole thing more seriously. We found this nothing more than one big comedic adventure and one huge popcorn summer flick. It was actually hard to tell if Chris Hemsworth is a good actor or not. All he did was yell, rant, rave, jump around and have great comedic timing. Maybe he will get to act in the next one. The best characters in the entire movie were Odin, Loki and Heimdal. These actors performed their parts to perfection.

People need to realize that this was just a 'good' film not a great one. Most reviewers had several problems with the film - even those rated positive on Rotten Tomatoes - if you read the entire reviews. All said negative things. Most people who have seen it have also had problems with it. I think it is fantastic if you enjoyed it! Great! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The reviewer here and myself thought it was just a film - nothing extraordinary. That is just only our opinion. It doesn't change yours - so just be adult and play nice.

The scrambled eggs scene was to represent that Thor was learning to serve humbly despite his great power and heritage, thus making him worthy to wield that power.
This review of Thor only elucidates the tortured negativity of the reviewer (Philip) himself. This rant suggests that the reviewer walked into Thor with too many predetermined opinions & is not worthy of lifting his pen... but it's the Internet & any fool can write a review. All are worthy of their opinions but c'mon, this review lacks credibility. Chris Hemsworth & Tom Hiddleson both did a great job with character development-- although the movie was not perfect, most agree on this point. And how could someone who used to read Thor miss the nod to comic book fans with reference to Donald Blake?

Sorry Phil but I really disagree with you. I think the movie matched what they other Marvel Studios have been going for which is not going for the deep character development but giving them a bit of a character and having a good mix of comedy and some action.

Too be honest Loki was a much better villain than Obadiah Stane was in the first Iron Man movie which got great reviews. You feel bad for Loki because he's actually trying to do well but is so twisted in his ideas that it comes off as evil. You're wrong to think that he was allied with the Frost Giants because if he was why would he want to kill their entire race? He was trying to destroy them the whole time (I don't know how you missed that) Also, your attack on that name is pretty baseless since that's their actual name in Norse mythology and the comics.

Another thing, what's wrong with the setting? Why does he have to go to a big city? I don't understand what you're trying to say there unless you just want to see buildings destroyed (Which I'm sure Transformers 3 will do plenty of for you) You don't even mention the scenes on Asgard so the whole movie isn't in a small New Mexico town

The point wasn't that he cooked eggs, it was that instead of having the Destroyer ravage the town and kill innocent humans he was willing to sacrifice himself to stop the bloodshed. Did you miss that part? Or how about when instead of killing all the Frost Giants (which he was ok with in the beginning) he destroys the bridge saving the race and preventing him from returning to Earth. There's no character development there?

While the romance was sub-par it's not like it was out of nowhere. She was interested in him because of the connection to her research and then they had their conversation on the rooftop. The thing that really ruins this review and the credibility for me is that you're upset about the Donald Blake joke. For someone who claimed to read Thor as a kid you'd think you know that originally Thor was Donald Blake. That was thrown in their for the true comic book fans who would get the joke and chuckle a little bit. Apparently that went over your head.
