I haven’t used a mouse since the mid-1990s. I do, however, have a Logitech Cordless Optical TrackMan next to every laptop and desktop.

We have 6 laptops in our house, and no desktops, yet we have 5 mice in constant use, and I use mine about half the time, when I’m at my desk. Many, many things are just so much easier with a mouse, and more accurate. I love the multi-touch features on my laptop, but there will be no switching to the mousepad when playing any kind of game on a computer. Of course, this is just my opinion, but thought I’d share lol

You clearly know some weird people if none of them have used a mouse in over a decade, regardless of whether people have switched to a laptop or not, the vast majority of them continue to use a mouse as it is simply more comfortable and useful than a trackpad for most of them.

Incidentally, since when was Diablo 2 classed as a mmorpg?

Whoa… mouse dead? My wrist is going to die first using a trackpad all the time before the mouse dies. Ergonomically the mouse is really an essential travel companion. Sure the trackpad can suffice, but it’s pretty limited.

Always use a mouse and unless that thing lets me keep the right mouse button from wearing out, then it won’t help me at all.

(autocad, World of Warcraft, XFCE all abuse my right click sooo much)

I only ever use a mouse… even though my work pc is a laptop. I hate the trackpads – too slow and inaccurate. I avoid using the mouse unless its necessary (kb shortcuts ftw), but its way better than a trackpad (or worse, ibms “nipple”).

as an architect, I use a mouse for about 8-10 hours a day. seems that a lot of bloggers forget that not all people push around documents and spreadsheets all day. there are many many industries where pixel accurate input is a necessity, and the mouse is the best way to accomplish this.
