Your “market share” comparison is antiquated and simply stupid.
It’s a metaphor that’s often used, but a way to think about it is if Windows-based PCs as a whole are thought of as a top selling car like the Toyota Camry, Apple’s Mac computers would be more like a luxury car, like a Porsche. Porsche sales are just a fraction of Camry sales because it does not sell any models in the low-end price range. But at the same time, Porsche makes more money on each car sold and maintains a premium branding. If Porsche started selling cheap cars, it would move a lot more units, but it would no longer be the Porsche brand that we know.That’s not to say the Camry sucks or that the Porsche is perfect. They’re just two different cars that cater to different markets. And they represent the two different goals that most Windows-based PCs have (market share) versus Apple’s Mac computers (high-end revenue share).

Apple’s strategy — its revenue share of the “premium” price market — that is, computers over $1,000 — is a staggering 91%. This means that 9 out of every 10 retail dollars that is spent on PCs in that price range, goes to Apple.

So you need to quit using the market share comparison, it only makes you look silly.

Doubt it, since windows is used by probably 95% of businesses and they aren’t prepared to redevelop all their programs and systems to run OSX. Highly doubt it will defeat windows 8 since PCs still outnumber macs by a HUGE margin (not counting ios, just windows vs osx)

While Apple’s Mounted Lion is a good and safe evolution of the OS, I believe it doesn’t pose any threat to Windows 8 – that OS has the ability to be great on both tablets and laptops, although it will require people to adjust to a slightly new experience. Microsoft needs a better PR team, that’s for sure…

No gorgeousninja – there is not a ‘whole internet out there that doesn’t agree’ as you put it. The global OSX user base population at the moment amounts to a fairly small minority. (I actually sit within that small percentage myself). Perhaps you might like to scroll through the rest of the comments below and tell me again that the majority agree with the contents of this article?
And yes, I can rant all I want because the difference between myself and Mr Davies is that I’m not claiming to be an unbiased journalist writing for a tech review website that wants to be taken seriously. This is yet another baseless, trivial, personal opinion piece that belongs on a blog somewhere.

Why is it that any sort of criticism against Apple is treated as a call to arms against Google/MS/Amazon by butthurt Apple fantards?

Real users make no qualms about criticizing the stuff they use. It’s their bloody right.

I’ve used OS X since its inception (and other Apple operating systems prior to that, way before idiot posers like you jumped onboard the Apple bandwagon just because they got “cool”) and think Tiger was their best by far. Everything after just went downhill. Leopard introduced layers of bloated fluff, then they released Leopard Service Pack (aka Snow Leopard) to fix some of the bugs, then they released Lion and added a ton more bloat, and now Lion Service Pack is gonna clean up a bit again. At least MS don’t charge for service packs.

Either way, Xserve functionality will still be a broken mess and its X11 libraries will be horribly outdated. OS X has gone from PrettyDecent-BSD (Tiger) to Crippled-BSD (everything after).

Gatekeeper takes the cake, though. Pretty sure they’ll perfect it and build the perfect prison by the next release after Mountain Lion, though they’ll have to research wild cats native to North Korea for a name, since it’ll feel like North Korea in use.

Nothing that the updates mention in OSX Mountain Lion ground breaking or importants.
Nothing that we have never seen before and only couple tweaks inspired from IOS.

Im a big apple fan… I got a lot of devices of them but they start more disappointing me…
Regarding Windows 8 I think (and i cant believe it that I say it) Microsoft is doing a better job now…
Metro apps are nice… surface looks good I think MS is doing it better maybe also right this time…
Best OS what apple produced was Snow Leopard till now…
