Admitting you are computer illiterate? Whatever. Maybe people want to simply use a computer rather than "Learn how the magic box works".

Are you a mechanic? Are you a TV repairman? Speaker crossover designer? Does that stop you buying cars, TVs and speakers?

I know how computers "work" and still prefer to choose Apple products. All that the competitors are doing now is copying. Xoom is absolutely no different.

I was going to buy the zoom at £450... £500 is just pushing me to far. When you consider the dollar price will probably be in the region of $599 how can you justify this sort of pricing? Us Brits are daft enough to keep getting ripped off and pay these inflated prices. The Ipad is another great example of how we pay well over the odds $499 in the USA and £440 in PC world WTF!!! If Steve Jobs is happy to stand there on a stage with a sign saying $499 for an IPAD 2. We should demand Apple charge this! We should be able to walk into a Store in the UK slap down payment in dollars and walk out the door the Ipad 2. If the staff are not happy refer them to Mr Jobs.

Also Apple have just reduce the price of the old model to £330!!!! Nice deal for the millions of apple fanboys who bought one over the last couple of months.

We need to make a stand and refuse to be ripped off. Start asking companies like Apple why we have to pay more in the UK. You have to single out Apple due to their firm anti competitive grip of the pricing of their products..... Motorolla well cant blame you for trying but at £500 you may as well not release the Xoom in the UK> Also all the honeycomb tablets are basically the same (same processor / same screens). I am hoping someone like ASUS wont be greedy and I can buy something which is the same sort of hardware for less.

My hard earned money for the moment at least is staying in my pocket. I have been waiting to buy a decent android tablet for nearly 4 months now and I know all these tablets including the Ipad 2 will be out of date by the end of the year.

If you check out the bill of materials for the tech specs then £500 is not that expensive. It has a higher BOM than original iPad by about 10%. Interesting to see that the iPad2 specs on the Apple website do not confirm the amount of RAM on the iPad2. I guess we can safely assume that they aren't competing with the 1GB on other devices.

I get the feeling that PC World are hammering on the profits whilst the device is new.. There will still be people buying it at that price and they'll keep it whilst they do. This is bad for Android because it will reflect to those biased in other ways that it's a failure, rather than the middlemen are being greedy. Google won't have a say, Motorola probably won't and are trusting maximum income from these experienced retailers. Consumers = lose. For now at least.. Bring on the competition!!

Google won't have a say, Motorola probably won't and are trusting maximum income from these experienced retailers. Consumers = lose. For now at least.. Bring on the competition!!

There will still be people buying it at that price and they’ll keep it whilst they do. This is bad for Android because it will reflect to those biased in other ways that it’s a failure, rather than the middlemen are being greedy.
Thats £50 in the wrong direction. Do they actually want to sell this thing? Who on earth is making these decisions?
I imagine that all this will do is push people who originally thought the ipad was to expensive into apple stores. The only reason android has been so successful is that it has found its way onto devices bought by people who dont know what it really is with a small number of high end phones for the technically inclined.
I still think that buying apple products is just admitting your computer illiterate and cant be bothered to learn how the magic box you spend so long on actually works.
