“outselling” - sure, it does. i believe it. for example, if there are say 500 different android phones each selling 10,000 that’s 5,000,000 phones. it does sell a lot. we can apply the same for tablets. if manufacturers start pumping tablets at the same rate as phones, android will definitely outsell everything else.

If you want those things, you should be buying WP7, not Android.

Android’s greatest strength is its vast diversity. That is also its greatest weakness, but it’s still outselling everything else, proving that people want the advantages that diversity brings (and apparently more than the controlled approach you advocate).

Be happy we can all choose from the full spectrum of managed phones (i.e. iOS -> WP7 -> Android -> Meego et al).

When will Google wakeup and change the direction and focus of Android??

Google do at least these three things:
Set some sort of standards for Android devices (phones & tablets) A cpu/gpu minimum.
Do not allow manufacturers to tinker with the OS by way of skins and crap ware
Curate your own marketplace.

Those three things would go a long, long way to making Android much better, and more desirable for the consumer.

Double dose of cheap nomenclature; 1st- “motorola”. 2nd – “xoom”. Had they spelt it with a “Z”, they might have doubled its sales but ultimately its motorola…

Not a surprise.. the xoom isn’t even close to being one of the top android tablets… who wants a xoom when they can get a transformer, thrive or galaxy tab?
