It's always good when manufacturers offer freebies in exchange for ordering their products early. It might not be so good, however, when that freebie is another phone that is more than half the price of the one being sold. That is the rather tempting yet also odd prospect in the Motorola One Action pre-order because, if you take action now (pun intended), you can grab a Moto G6 for free for a limited time only.

Admittedly, this "two for the price of one deal" doesn't look that bad. It may not be the latest G7 generation, but the Moto G line has never been about the latest features anyway. The Moto G6 may even be preferred by those who dislike notches, despite the well-aged mid-range specs, including a 5.7-inch FHD+ screen, a Snapdragon 450, 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of storage.

The Motorola One Action isn't exactly that far ahead, only with a bit more modern features, like a Samsung Exynos 9609 and 4 GB of RAM. Of course, the titular feature here is the triple cameras, specifically the way you can hold it vertically while still taking horizontal pictures in the exact same resolution.

The Motorola One Action itself costs only $349.99, or $20 a month under financing. The Moto G6, on the other hand, is $249.99 but you can get it for free if you pre-order the One Action now. The offer won't last forever, of course.

At the same, it's hard not to wonder why Motorola is almost selling its phones at a loss. It definitely doesn't inspire confidence in a company that seems to be struggling to regain its lost prestige.
