Motorola Olympus Tegra 2 powered smartphone caught in wild

Leaked images of what's tipped to be the Motorola Olympus have emerged, potentially giving us our first glimpse of the new NVIDIA Tegra 2 powered Android smartphone. The shots, sent to Engadget among other sites, show a large touchsceen handset with what looks to be a front-facing video camera.

The chassis generally resembles that of the Motorola DEFY, but with slightly sharper edges. Hardware specifications for the Olympus are still shrouded in mystery, but there's talk of dual-band WiFi a/b/g/n support, unusual for a smartphone, together with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.

NVIDIA has previously promised a significant push for devices running its Tegra 2 chipset in early 2011, tipping smartphones and tablets for CES 2011 in January. Tegra 2 is particularly strong when it comes to HD video – capable of 1080p Full HD output – so it seems likely the Olympus is hiding an HDMI port somewhere on that chassis.
