Motorola Nexus 5 rumored for Q4 launch

Following Google's purchase of Motorola in 2011, there's been one thing many have been waiting to see happen: a Motorola Nexus. Speculation has abounded that LG would again be the maker of the next Nexus handset, but such has been refuted by a claim from Taylor Wimberly this evening that Motorola will be stepping up to the plate.

For many weeks before the Moto X launch ealier this month, information about the handset had been leaked in leaps and bounds, so much so that just about everything there was to know about the handset was known ahead of time. Much of that information was the by-product of Taylor Wimberly, who was formerly with AndroidandMe.

Mr. Wimberly is elbows-deep in the world of Motorola, and most of the information he brought up turned out to be correct. Such is relevant, considering his latest revelation, which was made on Google+ today. In a short status, he said simply and without detail: "Motorola will release a Nexus smartphone in Q4 (that is not the Moto X)."

Although the status didn't give us much in the way of details, it is an exciting tidbit nonetheless, and one that has been long-awaited by some. Furthermore, he removes any speculation that might appear about what he means by specifying that the handset will, in fact, be a Nexus device, not a Moto X device.

Short, sweet, and to the point. We'll update you when more information surfaces, which it no doubt will if the rumor is true, but until then let us know what you think!
