hey dorkos stop reading so many comic books.its not kevlar to protect against bullets. there trying to keep this thing as thin as possible yet strong enough so you dont need a case. if you put a case over the phone its not so razr any more since cases make a phone more bulky. there trying to make it fit better in your pocket. look at the corners of the device. notice anything? they are curved inward to slide in and out of a pocket with less resistance. and because its thinner you wont be walking around town with a big ol phone chubby….. catch my drift

I know. There is no lag. Zero. Zip. Nada. I even have a ton of widgets and the S2 just blows through them. Samsung did such an amazing job with this phone. And this is coming from a guy who owned 3 HTC phones and an HTC tablet. This is the phone to get if you like the Android OS and are on Sprint.

they announced earlier today that it is coming to Verizon, the first dead giveaway was the fact it says “DROID” which is VZW trademarked

I’ve dropped my droid 2(I’m due for an upgrade soon) multiple times in the past, not that its something to brag about but I’ve dropped it from a 4 foot height nd other ranges and it has not hindered its looks or performances one bit… I take care of it now so no dropping of late

You realize that’s not how GLASS works. It’s very strong, but very brittle. It’ll protect just fine against scratches, but not from shattering. If you want protection from shattering, get something with a plastic screen.

Eitherway it seems like an interesting development. Kevlar case? I’m not a Motorola knowitall, is this the first phone with that casing? If not what is already sporting it?

I hope this phone is the first of Motorola’s turn around.

Waiting for the Samsung Droid Prime on Verizon — primarily because of the AMOLED. Can’t imagine this coming to Verizion because it would be serious competition for the Bionic.

would consider it for sprint if they did it, instead of the iphone. I would rather stick with android, but if whatever is out in a month is slow at all when going through the screens, dialing, starting programs (like how annoyingly error-ridden my Samsung can be) then I’m just getting an iphone 5.

I dropped my samsung (first time I’ve dropped a cell while outside in 15 yrs) transform and it broke the screen. I couldn’t believe it broke the screen. it’s 2011, the screen should be so strong that a 2.5 ft drop out of my pocket shouldn’t result in a cracked screen.

Considering that this is a Kevlar fiber casing and not the flexible fabric that actually deflects that impact of the bullet…
Short Answer: no.

Long Answer:
Even a Kevlar vest also has padding under the Kevlar lining which is what actually saves you. If you have a thin layer of Kevlar over yourself and were shot the bullet wouldn’t go through the Kevlar, but the Kevlar would impacted with enough force to leave a very large fist sized hole in your chest that will probably break every bone around it and end up causing blunt trauma to your organs.

The RAZR was not what they call it here, it was an amazing phone for the time when huge bulk phones ruled. Motorola re-defined the industry with the RAZR. I have a last-gen RAZR here and just looking at it and it’s lines, would make other companies like Apple, jealous.

Let’s see what the real specs are, but kevlar composite would be amazing for the internal frame. Go MOTO+GOOGLE. Goog usually does amazing things with companies.

Come on guys! No one is going to shoot your phone! This phone is not going to be bullet proof. Kevlar is a tough, lightweight material. That is the idea here! They want to make the phone light, while also allowing it be, at least somewhat, shockproof. It appears that motorola is attempting to make a high end device that will appeal to those people that want a smartphone, but need something to handle the abuse. Kevlar is the perfect material to handle the job!

I bet the RAZR name is going to be ruined by this device. The original RAZR was a huge succss. I don’t really see the same happening for this. As for Kevlar, why? Sure it’s cool and all, but I don’t think your phone is going to be shot at.
