Motion controlled Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots

I bet lots of us had Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots when we were kids. You remember the red and blue robots that were in the yellow ring and controlled by some plastic handless with buttons that made each arm punch.

The goal was to knock the block off the opponent by punching them in the jaw and making the head pop up. Designers Anne Flinchbaugh and Zachery Shivers worked together to create a version of the game that is motion controlled.

The game looks just like the manually controlled version from back in the day. The designers used a bunch of tech and servos to rig the robots up to fight using motion controls and sensors from a couple Chromos watches. The bots punch and fight as the players punch, check out the video below.
