Approximately 600 photo frames are being recalled by the Gift Wrap Company of Atlanta, Georgia and Consumer Product Safety Commission due to excess levels of lead found on the frame’s surface paint. The ‘Made in China’ 4”x6” hanging photo frames were sold at Babies R Us stores nationwide from August 2007 through November 2007 for about $10. Here’s the brief description of the troubled item in case you have one: The wooden frames are white with decorations in different colors and have a coordinating ribbon attached to the top.

The authority says you should stop using this photo frame immediately and contact the Gift Wrap Company for a full refund at (800) - 443-4429 or online

I think at this point if you have little kids in the house, anything with “Made in China” on it should automatically be disqualified as a purchase. It’s fairly obvious that lead paint is the most common paint in China, so why even risk it.

Does make one wonder why the Chinese don’t have a terrible problem with stunted mental development though, or perhaps they only use lead paint on the junk they’re exporting.
