Back when we reviewed the Mophie Juice Pack Air in April, we decided it was one of the most useful iPhone 3G accessories on the market.  Make no mistake, the iPhone 3G users here at SlashGear love Apple’s smartphone, but we’re less keen on how quickly heavy use can chew through its battery life.  Now, thanks to a little Mophie generosity, we’ve got a Juice Pack Air to give away to one lucky SlashGear reader!

mophie juicepack air giveaway

As well as doubling your iPhone 3G’s runtime, the Juice Pack Air offers the protection of a hard case; that’s a first for a Mophie Juice Pack design. Despite all that, it’s only 0.75-inches thick, and adds just 20-percent more weight. Check out our review of the Mophie Juice Pack Air here.

To enter, and stand a chance of winning a Juice Pack Air worth $79.99, leave a comment in this post telling us about the most battery life you’ve ever managed to get from you iPhone 3G. We’ll pick one comment at random after the closing date – May 18th at 12pm central time – and that person will take away a Mophie Juice Pack Air! If you want more chances to win, we’re also giving them away at iPhone Buzz and PhoneMag.

Best? Maybe 3 days. Turned off push e-mail and didn’t use it much. Worst? Around 6 hours. Games + push e-mail + browsing.

I was able to squeak out about 46 hours when I forgot my charger over a 3 day weekend trip. Had moderate usage during that time too.

I’ve been able to get an entire weekend from my phone, but that was only when I turned off 3G, Wi-Fi, my business email address and Push updates.

It also helped that I was in a location that had a strong signal (five bars) during that period. Any less and I don’t think I would have made it for that long.

I’ve only had my iPhone for about 2 months, so I still spend a lot of time on it everyday. I use it as podcast listener, kindle, web browser, push email checker and twitter client. So, I don’t get a great duration out of it. Maybe 48hrs if I switch it to airplane mode over night.

I guess the best performance was not charging overnight and going two days0, but I’m on my iPhone constantly. Usually on 3G, so WiFi typically off.

I’ve ran through the whole battery one day at work, the day after I was introduced to fmylife. Read through 100 pages of that stuff.

Two days was the max with everything turned off except Edge Network. Goes to hell in a hand basket with 3G, WiFi, and push email. Mophie would be a nice addition to the iPhone capability.

I get more time over the course of weekends, when I am at home and surf Internet using my desktop only and I don’t listem music or play on iPhone. The longest was 3 days. I charged iPhone at 4pm on Friday. The next charge was the following Monday at 5pm.

On average I can get a full day (~16 hours) before I get the 20% warning. I’ve done 4 days, that was with turning the phone off for 2-3 hours several times (I’d forgotten my charger cord). A juice pack would be heavenly.

Longest was 4 days. wifi/3g off, email off, safari off. Basically had a piece of eye candy that I could do anything with but use.

I got a week out of mine…in airplane mode! Had a business phone for calls…iPhone for Apps…That has since changed as my iPhone is now my main personal/business phone. I have to charge every 24-36 hrs.

I guess I’ve never tried very hard, I think the longest I’ve gone is about a day and a half, why have it if I have to shut everything off.

I once plugged the charger into a plug at a relatives house that had no electricity coming out of it. LOL. I woke up the next morning, turned it on, and had a “10% Battery Remaining” message. Naturally, I unplugged it, and plugged it back in. Nothing (still a red battery). So, I decided to try restarting it, because according to Apple, “that solves most problems with the iPhone” (HA!). When this didn’t work and the phone still wasn’t charging, I came to my senses. I unplugged the charger and plugged it into an outlet on the other side of the room. Yay! I finally heard the pleasant, friendly jingle that accompanies a charging iPhone. Unfortunately, I only had the chance to charge it for about fifteen minutes before having to leave. I still got a good 14 hours of use out of it (at lowest brightness), and it started with only 10% battery remaining, plus charging for 15 minutes!

I got about 3 days worth of usage, when i went traveling without a charger. Only used the phone for calls though.

If I turn off the 3G/wifi/email then I can make it last 3 days. However, regular usage and almost obsessively checking email- 10 hours tops, so sad.

I’m pretty heavy user. I usually charge my phone every bit chance I get. With my current

setting, I’m good for 2 days. Here it is.

3G ON, Bluetooth OFF, Push OFF, Keyboard and Sleep/Wake sounds OFF, Brightness 20%

    with Auto Adjustment ON.

Well one day, I decided to go extreme. I went hiking and I felt like I became part of..let

say ecosystem, or nature. I turned on mighty AirPlan mode. I tell you what.

IT IS AWESOME !!! Not only it lasted entire hiking course (13 hours), camping (9 hours),

and way back home (3 hours). That’s almost 20+ hours ! and I listened to my iPod for

the whole time. I thought that was awesome experience. That’s what you get for

abandoning radio frequencies from cell towers to nature folks !

BUT, life is life and I have to feed myself. So back to my current setting which barely

lasts for a half day..I’D LOVE TO HAVE ONE OF THOSE YUMMY BOY ! look out for

    summerboy SlashGear !! :)

Was traveling and I forgot my charger…so I put it in airplane mode so that the Cellular antenna wouldn’t keep looking for towers and drain the battery…and when I needed to use it, I shut off bluetooth, wireless lowered my brightness and changed all my email settings to manual…lasted a whopping 9 hours!!!

Well, unfortunately I am a heavy user when it comes to my iPhone and as much as I have tried using tips and hints I have not been able to get more than about 4 hours. I may be the exception but personally, as much as I am a huge Apple fan I have never been impressed with their batteries in the iPhone, iPod (especially the Touch) and their laptops. I haven’t purchased the newest Macbook Pro 17″ which claims to have some newer miracle technology regarding the battery, but I’m not holding my breath on it being significantly better than what’s already out there. I bought a lot of third party external battery/charger solutions and I still can’t get a full day of “Power User” battery life. It got so bad that I ended up buying the iPod Touch 2nd Gen 32G. I wanted to be able to keep the iPhone a slim device so I shopped around for Battery/Case solutions for my iPod Touch and tried the two which claimed to be the best. The FastMac IV and the Mopie Juice Pak. Although the FastMac IV was a little bulky, I really liked all its features and it claimed to have close to twice the capacity of the Mopie Juice Pak so that was my first purchase. I could only get about 3-4 hours out of the external battery so I thought I’d buy the Mophie Juice Pak.

I have to tell you I was amazed. Even though the specs don’t look as good as the FastMac IV, this battery goes all day and night and I don’t have to use the battery on my iPod Touch. I know some people may think I’m crazy, but since February, when I bought the Mopie Pak, I have never had to resort to my internal battery. I’m not sure how to explain this, but the only thing I can think of is that I was very lucky and happened to get one of those “Perfectly Made” batteries. After seeing how long mine lasted, my twin sisters were amazed and both of them ended up purchasing one for their iPod Touches. Although they don’t use theirs as much as I do, one of them also goes all day/night without having to recharge the Mophie but the other one had a defective one and has sent it back for an exchange. I was about to get one for my iPhone until I ran into this giveaway so I will see if I can win one before going out and buying one. So far, Mophie has the best external battery/case in my experience. I only wish they would have added all the cool features that the FastMac IV had which is they had a very super bright LED light which always came in handy if I needed it, USB port so you can also charge another device at the same time if you wanted and holes at the bottom so you could hear the sound if you didn’t want to use a headset or earphones. Unfortunately with the Mophie, its muted unless you plug in headphones or a speaker into the 3.5″ plug. I’m taking the battery life over the other features but just thought it would be nice to see the other features included.
