Have you ever considered adding a second network card to your laptop? Chances are that you haven’t, as the average person doesn’t really need it. However, if you decide to take a laptop and set it up as some sort of network device like a router, you’ll need the extra port.

Sure, you could buy a second adapter that will slide in your PCMCIA slot, however, what would be the fun in that? This cool mod shows you how to take out your modem and replace it with a far more useful NIC.

While actually making the port isn’t that difficult, you’re going to run into the issue of actually getting it in your laptop. The instructions show you how to do it on an Alienware, but it’ll be different on every machine.
