MobileMe users get 60-day extra extension as Apple acknowledge issues

Apple have issued a second apologetic extension to its MobileMe subscribers, who have faced ongoing issues with the wireless syncronization service. In addition to the original 30-day free extension, any users whose account was active as of August 19, 2008 at 0:00 Pacific Daylight Time will now receive a further 60-day subscription.

"The transition from .Mac to MobileMe was rockier than we had hoped. While we are making a lot of improvements, the MobileMe service is still not up to our standards. We are extending subscriptions 60-days free of charge to express appreciation for our members' patience as we continue to improve the service" Apple statement

The extension will automatically be credited to users' accounts over the next few days.  Anyone with automatic subscriptions will have the extra 60-days added onto the end of that period, while trial users will have their test period extended.

Apple's willingness to face up to MobileMe problems stands in contrast to the ongoing iPhone 3G reception debate.  The recent 2.0.2 firmware update is intended to address some of the handset's issues, but the full extent of its efficacy remains to be seen.
