The cutting edge mobile devices graphics are going to surpass the last gen console graphics, but they are FAAAR from surpassing console gaming. The crown jewel of mobile gaming, and one of the 3 games that have any resemblance of home console quality, is a simple Punch Out clone.

Mobile apps cost 5-20$, console games cost 20 -100 million $ to make, so to get even you would have to sell 1.000.000 - 4.000.000 copies of the game. Obviously no one takes the risk of investing 20million to get even.

Mobile apps are simple, and will stay that way or a while. There's still room for even pocket consoles, let alone home consoles.

Carmack, you're old and still living in the 90's. Yes, more people will get games, but they won't pay your high price that you want for them either. Better be prepared to drop your price to $5 or less for a game that might last an hour at most.

I don't think you're ready to develop new and interesting games that last longer than an hour. Each one will be the same as the last, with slightly different graphics. It'll be like playing through the entire iD library, where all the games are the exact same thing, with slightly tweaked graphics each time.

Read a book, I bet it'd be more entertaining if you can stay awake.
