The latest offering from Mio, the Mitac Mio A701, will be its first GPS-enabled Windows Mobile-based smart phone. With the SirfStar III chipset incorporated the Mio A701 is capable of quick, reliable satellite fixes. Tri-Band GSM / GPRS phone functionality ensures that the Mio A701 can be used in most countries and for internet and e-mail access. Windows Mobile 5 has been supplied and this provides new features including persistent memory and the latest office applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Media Player 10. The basic specifications released, the Mio A701 device will be based on a 520MHz Intel XScale PXA270 processor including 192MB of memory, of which at least 64MB will be ROM. The smart design of the Mitac Mio A701 handset will be equipped with a 2.7in touchscreen, 240 x 320 display and a 1.3 megapixel camera.
