Misfit wearable ecosystem expands with dev tools

This week the folks at Misfit, creators of the Misfit Shine, have made clear their intent to expand. Not with another wearable – the first one they've made is still running strong – but with a release of their software system for the whole developer universe to take part in.

With the release of their new Misfit Developer Toolkit, developers will be joining in on a quickly expanding ecosystem. Misfit suggests that they already have 30 partners working with the toolkit to integrate activity tracking into their product offerings.

Misfit will be releasing several developer tools in a single toolkit which includes the following:

• Misfit Cloud API: enables users to access their Misfit data through third party applications• Misfit Device SDK: allows direct connection and sync capability with Misfit hardware• Misfit Scientific Library: allows access to Misfit's proprietary sensor algorithms and analytics for software and hardware product makers

The Misfit Shine works with activity tracking as well as sleep tracking in a super-simple piece of hardware. the Misfit Shine works with RunKeeper, MapMyFitness, and "Lose It!" along with systems like IFTTT.

Developers will be able to access the Misfit Toolkit by emailing build (at) misfit (dot) com. They can also check our more details at http://build.misfit.com/ right this minute.

If you do get involved with Misfit as a developer, let us know! We'd love to hear what you're cooking up!
