Mirror's Edge Catalyst delayed until May 2016

Mirror's Edge Catalyst has been delayed until May 2016, project Senior Producer Sara Jansson has announced. In a statement made Thursday, Jansson said the ambitious plans they have means a lot of work, and, unfortunately, that work can't be wrapped up in time for the original February 23rd launch date. Rather, the title will now be launched on May 24, 2016 instead, giving the team an extra three or so months to get everything in place.Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a first-person freerunning game that, says Jansson, will offer "a vast city to explore, full of stunning vistas, majestic skyscrapers, and mysterious tunnels." Goals include offering "fluid movement and combat" and a more engaging, deeper story. And, of course, the team wants to produce high-quality work.

While disappointing for those who expected to play in the new few months, the announcement is preferable over the common trend of quickly pushing out low-quality, buggy games. We saw that trend come fully to a head with Batman: Arkham Knight for PC, which had so many issues that sales were halted and it took several months to re-release a functional version.

Said Jansson:

We will use these few extra months to make sure that when you step into the massive City of Glass and experience the rise of Faith, it's as entertaining, impressive, and memorable as it can be.
