Minecraft Pocket and Windows 10 Editions get pistons galore

While Minecraft has undergone many changes over the years, the core focus of the game has remained the same. It's still a building game first, and everything else is secondary. Well soon you'll have some new tools to create even more interesting things in the Windows 10 and Pocket Editions of the game.

Pistons aren't anything new to Minecraft. They were introduced back in the Beta 1.7 release, and have allowed players to create some pretty amazing things. Unfortunately, the Windows 10 and Pocket Edition don't have all of the same great features that we know and love. Microsoft and Mojang are working hard to get as many of those features added into the newer versions of the game, however.

The next update for these two versions of the game is the highly-anticipated 0.15 release, otherwise known as "The Friendly Update." One of the main features that the game will see is the addition of pistons and sticky pistons. You'll be able to use these to make any number of contraptions within your world.

Curious what all you can do with a few pistons? You can see in the trailer above that the possibilities are endless. The entire Rube Goldberg machine was created by BlockWorks and TheMusicalKnight specifically to showcase the new pistons, as well as the full suite of Redstone blocks that you can use.

The Friendly Update is coming soon, though there has been no official date released. The good news is that it will be free for all owners of the Windows 10 and Pocket Editions of the game.
