Millennium Falcon and Slave I detailed for Star Wars Battlefront

Star Wars Battlefront 2015 is about to blow up thanks to two legendary vehicles detailed this week: the Millennium Falcon and Slave I. The former belongs to Han Solo and Chewbacca, of course, while the latter belongs to the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett. This follows with previous reveals of playable Boba Fett and Han Solo characters, of course – and all will be coming to the Fighter Squadron mode of gameplay in the near future.

Like modes of gameplay revealed in the Beta of the game – available earlier this month – you'll be able to pilot these ships only after you've found the correct pickup on a Fighter Squadron map. Once you find the pickup, you have only to activate it. From there it's a one-shot deal – once you die, you're back to your old ship.

Inside the Millennium Falcon you'll find yourself taking the pilot ship with Han Solo and/or Chewie, firing off quad-cannons and missiles galore. "One crucial thing to nail when designing the Hero Vehicles is to make players feel truly cool, powerful, and heroic when piloting them," said Senior Designer Björn Sundell, "This goes for both the visuals and feel."

"Playing Star Wars Battlefront, you should get the same feeling that you get when you see the Millennium Falcon swooping by and taking out TIE fighters in the movies."

It remains to be seen whether the Falcon or Slave I will be more deadly in the hands of a pair of skilled pilots, but what EA has revealed this week about the bounty hunter ship makes us feel like the dark side will have the upper hand – at least on the surface.

Inside Slave I you'll have proton torpedoes, ion cannons, and a jammer. This Jammer allows you to "fly undetected on the mini map" and switch off missile locks.

Basically the only chance enemy craft have against Boba Fett's craft is to remain solidly behind it, fighting in crews to take down the larger ship.

Therein lies one of the biggest vulnerabilities of both Slave I and the Millennium Falcon – they're big. Smaller craft will be able to fly close to dangerous crevices of rock to make these hero craft crash and burn.

Star Wars Battlefront will be launching in full on November 17th. Stay tuned for more!
