Mighty No. 9 launches June 21 in North America and Asia

Mighty No. 9, the game that has been chronically delayed, will be launching in North America and Asia on June 21, the game's creator has announced. In a statement today, Keiji Inafune said everyone outside of North America and Asia will get access to the title soon after starting on June 24. He describes the game as having "gone gold," and says the team is in its final stages before it hits digital and retail shelves.

Less you be tempted to think this announcement is another flaky promise that will be cancelled later on, Inafune said the date is "set in stone" and that no more delays will be taking place. Later on some time after launch, the team also plans to release versions for the Nintendo 3DS and the PlayStation Vita.

Project backers have been waiting the better part of three years for Mighty No. 9 to launch; the release date has been pushed back a few times, each time upsetting backers more than the last as some lost hope that the title would ever be released. It has been a long time coming; Inafune said, "I would like to say again how sincerely sorry we are for how long we have kept all of our fans waiting."

Mighty No 9 is one of the projects to go down in crowdfunding history, having raised millions in funding back in 2013. Since that time, many crowdfunded games have seen their own delays, and some other projects have been abandoned altogether. Not familiar with Mighty No 9? Check out the timeline below for more info!
