Well, robot in space suit really doesn’t work well at the theater now does it? A movie will always have to incorporated some sort of human as a main/supporting character (prove me wrong). In this case, Master Chief and his sidekick isn’t exactly human as so their enemies (early in the series). So, I can only imagine why no-one has the balls to take this project on.

So 60 first class tix killed the deal? Let’s see… that’s 60 x $5000 = $300,000. Box office revenue for Avatar was $3 billion, so Hollywood wouldn’t accept a 0.1% hit? Sounds to me like the project did die because of greed, but from Hollywood, not Microsoft.

This entire article is pointless, because anyone who has paid attention to the videogame-to-movie market knows that there hasn’t been ONE good movie created. Hollywood may have been upset about Microsoft not bending to their terms or easying up on the terms, but honestly they don’t need to. HALO brings in entirley too much money for Microsoft for any director to come in and attempt at recreating something that has less boundaries because its in a virtual world. I can only imagine some garbage love story of turmoil, conflict and passion being woven into the action scenes and then having the movie end with a “hint” at a possible sequel only for it to go downhill and suck the franchise dry. I applaud Microsoft. They way Hollywood works when it comes to new movie franchises is milking it until there’s nothing left or no one cares anymore. That would directly affect the HALO videogame amongst fans and those who aren’t familiar with it. We don’t need a HALO, if it happens it will only happen on their terms which means it MIGHT be good.

Frankly I’m glad Microsoft stuck to their guns. Hollywood has never fucking made a good videogame movie. If Microsoft was forcing them to stick to the proper Canon of the universe and they wouldn’t budge? Good for Microsoft.

I don’t think devaluing the franchise would make more money for them in the long run. Hollywood has a way of devaluing things. who remember Doom? after the movie everything went down hill.

Halo movie sounds like a good idea, but videogame movies havent been great. Id like to see cgi tv show like clone wars or starship troopers. Halo Legends had a great cgi sequence.

Has a video game ever been made into a good movie? And I don’t mean a profitable one, but a good movie. Not that I’ve seen. Whatever the reason this project was shut down for, in the end, it was probably a good thing.

We have the games. We have a series of surprisingly good fan-fiction books. We didn’t really need a movie that would likely do its best to ruin the franchise.

Microsoft wanted the Halo movie to be as faithful to the game as possible. Holywood wanted to take Master Chiefs helmet off and perhaps spin some kind of romantic thread into the script and God knows what else. The Halo faithful would have caused a riot!

Its Microsoft’s IP and you gotta play by the rules, MC is a 500lb tank killing machine and no he does not say much. A franchise which topped $300 million on day one, I think MS is firmly in the driving seat and not Holywood.

A Halo movie will come when the time is right.

The state of the art in video gaming is now equated with Microsoft and Xbox so what any one else says about it is pretty well irrelevant. The profits from the Halo franchise are worth far more than anything from Hollywood.
