That’s completely wrong. Cutler can basically do anything he wants at Microsoft, so he must have chosen Xbox for a reason. My guess is he’s looking for a challenge in a business with a lot of upside potential -- something that could be Microsoft’s next big business.

Microsoft have done reasonably well with Xbox 360, but it’s just a games console. The next generation Xbox has to go way beyond games if it wants to triumph -- that means beating the other games consoles and all the other home entertainment devices. If Microsoft can do that, it could be one of their biggest wins since the PC in the 80s/90s.

If I were running Microsoft, I’d focus especially on replacing decoder boxes for cable/satellite. Get the cable/satellite operators to offer the new Xbox for free, or at least heavily subsidised, with cable/satellite subscriptions, then make it the centre of the home entertainment system. Subsidies are the key, so it has to be attractive to the cable/satellite firms.

A pioneer in computing working on video games?!! This has to be the worst news I heard all decade. It throws in the towel for hte internet.

Should we be considering a career change also? Is computing and windows really dead?
Should i go back to college since computers are dead? Why is MS have all their talent in Xbox?

Dave we are sorry it had to come to this. M$ has made a commitment to expand its gaming division since all the other groups are failures.

A waste of talent for humanity. Dave is a pioneer and moving into video games has to be the most humiliating career change in his life. This represents ms' last hope. He was moved since the groups he was in were consolidated into other groups. So he was given a choice move to video games for the kids or leave.

When he actually moves into the building he will see a completely different culture of young kids in flip flops and shorts who care less about profit and more into games/goofing around.

Makes sense for the accounts but makes the final blow to a company failing from within.

MS evolves into a game/entertainment company since 95% of all corporate resources are dedicated to XB land.

So the next ten years you will not see anything from redmond unless you play video games.
